April was transferred to us from the Adams County Animal Shelter/Adoption Center on 10/23/09 where she was relinquished by her owner on 9/9/09. April has no faults, her owner had to place her for adoption because she lost her job and was moving. She is a DLH/Maine Coon Mix, 7 years old, microchipped, spayed and UTD on shots. April has always lived indoors, uses her litter box as she should, never has accidents in the house, and uses Tidy Cat litter. She has lived with adult men and women and children between the ages of 2-13 years. Her behavior around children is very calm, and she is used to a noisy household. She is shy at first with visitors, then very friendly. April has never bitten anyone, is not frightened of anything, uses her scratching post, and does not scratch furniture. She is used to having her nails trimmed and being brushed/combed. She likes catnip and fuzzy mice, but is not a hunter.

Precious Boy is a fluffy, cuddly 5-7 year old declawed male. He came to ARAS when his owner could not take him with her when she moved. Precious is currently in foster care following an extreme dental to relieve him of the pain caused by stomatitis. Here is a note from his foster person: He is being a very sweet lap cat.
He does not seem to mind my dog. He needs to remain on moist food only until mid-Dec. This stunning cat sure has had some bad luck: gets adopted after being at ARAS for too long, only to be returned because the old cat in the home did not like sharing her home with a new cat ( did they get introduced gradually enough? ), then Precious Boy gets his much needed dental and ends up with a broken jaw. Gratefully he is feeling much better, eating his moist food well, using the litter box and seeking loving human interaction.
All he needs now is a good permanent home. Click on his photo to see another.

Cocoa belonged to an elderly owner for about a year, then relinquished him to the shelter in Adams County because she could no longer care for him. He was transferred to us from the Adams County Animal Shelter/Adoption Center on 10/23/09. He is declawed on all 4 feet, which are painful to the touch and make him cranky. He loves his catnip and to have his neck and ears scratched and to be brushed. Cocoa lived mostly indoors, only going outdoors once in a while when he wanted to. He uses Tidy Cat litter, and never has had an accident in the house. Cocoa has lived with adult women and seniors, and has never been around kids.

ADOPTED! Alazam was left at a pet store with Bellarissa and plenty of toys in the carrier. She is possibly 15 years of age, very mellow personality and loves to be petted and to eat!

In Memory: Bellarissa was left at a pet store with Alazam and plenty of toys in the carrier. She is possibly 15 years of age, very mellow personality and loves to be loved. She is having a hard time adjusting to shelter life and stopped eating which resulted in fatty liver disease. Even with the best of vet care, she succumbed to fatty liver and depression.

Barney W. is a 5 year old solid, stocky male that was relinquished by his owner to Banfield N. Denver vet hospital. He is quite friendly and calm, and has been an indoor/outdoor cat. He was adopted briefly, but had to come back when his new owner's new job would have left him alone for many days out of the month.

ADOPTED! Kiki would love a forever home where she could be a lapcat and have frequent petting sessions. She is great with dogs - doesn't even know they are there - and, for the most part, good with other cats. There's occasional tiffing that goes on, but nothing out of the ordinary. She likes canned food as a treat, and Purina dry foods, and is crazy about boiled chicken breast.

Ivory Ivory is a wonderful, fluffy boy. He recently let us know he is extremely insecure in a household where there is a lot of noise and children. He hid under the bed and would not eat. Ivory would be a good opportunity for fostering to remind him that a home life is so much better than the shelter life. If you would like to adopt Ivory, he will need his own quiet space and plenty of time and love for him to be happy and secure.

Ben the Bengal came to ARAS on 10/10/09. He was found left behind in a rented home with a note to please find him a good home. We think he is around 3 years old, and in good shape despite being declawed in front. Ben is a bit of a biter, possibly because of the declaw, or maybe because he is still trying to adjust to shelter life. It would be best if he goes to a home with no young children.
