Volunteer Orientation: The next Volunteer Orientation will be scheduled soon. Please email Eva (our Volunteer Coordinator) at ekeleti@aol.com if you are planning to attend the next orientation after it is scheduled. Attending the Volunteer Orientation before volunteering is not necessary, feel free to start at any time!

Too busy to volunteer? Consider donating canned cat/kitten food. We appreciate all quality canned cat food. We mainly use Friskie's pate (ground) canned cat food and Fancy Feast, all meat baby food, and tuna for our sick ones.

Because ARAS is a small non-profit shelter, we rely on volunteers to help out with a variety of tasks at the shelter and other events that help support us. There is no minimum age for volunteering at the shelter, however, minors must have a parent or guardian sign a release on their first visit. All junior volunteers under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian with them while volunteering.

We really need foster homes for our older shelter residents, post-op kitties and some kitties suffering depression and becoming ill as a result!
The shelter life is very difficult on older cats, cats recovering from medical procedures, and extremely shy cats that had a good home before coming to the shelter, yet these cats can thrive in foster homes. Some of our shelter residents needing foster care include Speck, Panda, Bones, Snuggles. Our special needs, FIV+ and FeLV+ cats also need foster care. These cats may be shy and need more socialization or they may have some medical/behavioral issues that require more personal attention. We are in need of experienced people to open up their homes and hearts to one or more adult shelter cats who need more individual care. Please email the shelter at arascolorado@netscape.net for more information about these kitties.

Opportunities!

We would love for you to share your story about Animal Rescue and Adoption Society! Help raise our profile and give us constructive feedback about your experience with us at GreatNonprofits.org Thank You!

Kitten Care Brigade!
We are in need of volunteers to join the Kitten Care Brigade!
If you are available in the mornings 8:00-11:30, or 2:00-4:30 in the afternoon, we can use your help cleaning and socializing in the kitten room. The kittens need you, and so do we! Respond via the ARAS email (arascolorado@netscape.net) when we can look forward to you being here. We still have plenty of shifts available!

Fundraising Committee
We are in need of volunteers to join our Fundraising Committee. Come and share your ideas to raise much needed funds for Denver's largest no-kill, cage-free, non-profit cat shelter! Please email the shelter at arascolorado@netscape.net for more information.

Office Help
We are in need of volunteers to assist in the office from 12:00-2:30 and 2:30-4:30/5:00 on Saturday and Sunday afternoons as well as Monday and Friday afternoons from 12:00-2:00 and 2:00-4:00. Duties would be answering the phone, greeting customers, giving tours and adoption counseling. Please email the shelter at arascolorado@netscape.net for more information.

ARAS needs volunteers to help with our Bingo game on Wednesday evenings at Turn Bingo of Arvada located at Sheridan and Fifty Third Street in Arvada. Volunteers should plan to arrive at 5:30. If you can’t get there this early, we can still use you. You don’t need ANY experience – we’ll train you! It’s also a fun way to get to know other shelter supporters. If you have questions about bingo or want to volunteer for bingo, please call Judith at 303-494-2594. Evenings are best. If you have a general volunteering question, please email Eva (ekeleti@aol.com), our volunteer coordinater, or email the shelter (arascolorado@netscape.net), or call the shelter directly at 303-744-6076.
